During your initial evaluation your, provider will spend time with you reviewing your medical history, pain history and imaging. After a comprehensive evaluation, a treatment plan that is customized to your needs will be developed. If deemed necessary, we work in close collaboration with other specialists: ENT, Neurologist, Behavioral Medicine and/or Physical Therapist to ensure you receive an interdisciplinary evaluation and treatment plan.
Additional imaging such as CT scan or MRI may be ordered to evaluate your temporomandibular joint and other jaw structures.

TREATMENT OPTIONS
ORAL APPLIANCE THERAPY
Various types of orthotic appliances can be custom fabricated to treat your specific condition. For a patient to comply with the treatment, these appliances need to be comfortable and designed to ensure the treatment is successful.

PHARMACOTHERAPY
Often medications such as low dose muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory pain medications, and/or low dose antidepressants (proven to be helpful to treat some neuropathic pain conditions) may be prescribed.

INJECTIONS
Trigger point injections and neuromodulator injections (such as Botox, Dysport) can be used to relieve painful muscle spasms.
